We are winding down and hustle and bustle of the season and getting close to the main event: Christmas Eve! My youngest is getting to the age where she is starting to have her doubts, but still very much wants to believe in the Magic of Christmas. So I am trying to make sure we get all the fun stuff in as this may be one the last years that everything is still magical in her eyes. In our house, the magic reindeer food is just as important as the cookies for Santa.
There really are no set ingredients for Magic Reindeer Food other than oats, some sprinkles, and lots of love and wonder.
You can see that we used oatmeal, Rice Krispy cereal, and Frosted Mini-Wheats cereal because that is what we had on hand. It’s hard to see but there is also red, green, blue and yellow colored sugar mixed in as well.
If you are making this at a party or as a class project, there are so many cute ways you can set it up, but since this one is just for us at home, we just dumped all of our ingredients in until she thought we had the right mix.
We added a printable topper and simply stapled on.
You can download a printable PDF of the Magic Reindeer Food topper by clicking here.
They will fit standard snack, sandwich and quart sized zipper bags. We used cardstock, but you could also use regular paper.
The poem on the back reads:
Sprinkle on the lawn at night.
The Moon will make it sparkle bright.
As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam,
This will guide them to your home.
The youngest and I hope you take a minute to make your own Magic Reindeer Food with your kids and keep the magic alive just a little longer.
Stay humble, work hard, be kind. (and Believe in Magic!)
